TravelPost Category - TravelTravel - Post Category - By CountryBy Country

Looking for a break with enough va-va-voom in Vietnam to keep the kids happy?

Boutique travel experts Mr & Mrs Smith have three family-friendly hotels that will wow kids and parents alike.

An Lam Saigon River, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Style Secret Garden
Setting Surveying Saigon River

A leafy Saigon sanctuary, An Lam Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City boasts sweeping views over this quiet stretch of river and family-friendly pursuits only a speedboat transfer away.

Sleeping All 15 guest rooms come with a balcony, terrace or garden for hypnotic river vistas. All room types except the deluxe come with their own private pool so water babies can splash away to their heart’s content. Cots are free and extra beds cost US$45 per night.

Activities Once the kids have cooled off with a swim – there is also the Central pool handily shaded by tropical foliage – they will adore the exhilarating 15-minute speedboat transfer to the city. Step off the boat and take a wander around Dam Sen Park, where a water park, mini zoo plus croc- and fish-feeding will keep them entertained. Similarly kid-friendly is the Bin Quoi Tourist Village (it’s approximately 8km from the city centre and a 20-30 minute taxi ride, depending on traffic), where water puppet shows deliver a playful dash of local culture, and charming thatched cottages framed by coconut trees present a peek of days gone by in the Mekong Delta.

Feasting Children are welcome in the main restaurant, the alfresco Tram dining room, where they can chow down on fresh fruit and waffles for breakfast and rice paper rolls and pho come dinnertime. There isn’t a special kids’ menu, but the chefs will adapt dishes to appease fussy palates.

Sassy savings Book with Smith to enjoy 30 per cent off and a free dinner until 1 December.

Mia Resort, Nha Trang, Vietnam
Style Beach peach
Setting Green, serene Cam Lam Bay

With your own private beach flanked by the Nha Trang mountains, Mia Resort in South Central Vietnam is an aquatic paradise with enough creative activities to keep the kids happy without having to step foot outside the hotel.

Sleeping For blissful family slumbers, there are Family Condos with one double and one twin bedroom, plus a neat kitchenette for preparing simple lunches and suppers. Extra beds can be added in the suites, villas and condos.

Activities Every Saturday at 2pm, kids can get creative at the cupcake making session Bake and Make, and the fun continues on Sunday mornings, with painting and colouring-in sessions. Fancy a few hours of peace and quiet? Park the little Smiths at the small room next to Sandals restaurant, which is stocked with toys, board games, a DVD player, Wii and kids’ movies. Feel like a day out? Head over to the Vinpearl Land on nearby Hon Tre (Bamboo) Island (accessible by gondola, ferry or powerboat) where an amusement park, waterpark and aquarium deliver ample entertainment for kids of all ages.

Feasting Kids can tuck into ‘fisherman’s’ fish and chips, ice-cream, juices and milkshakes at the hotel’s beachfront restaurant, Sandals. Dining options change nightly and include kid-friendly fare such as pizza and barbecued meat.

Sassy savings Book with Smith to enjoy an exclusive six-night getaway at Mia Resort. Offer ends 15 December.
