DCGCAFECAUSETTE

Ok, so MOHK’s Café Causette has been on our Tiny Bites radar for a while, but with a number of family-friendly touches in place for the Year of the Horse, plus some revamped healthy options for mama, we felt that it deserved a re-visit… here’s the Sassy Mama verdict!

Thumbs up
Open from 6.30am, the opening hours are ideal for those of us who are blessed (ahem!) with early risers, but are sick of staring at our own four walls. Café Causette offers all the morning faves a mama could want, and has a good range of kids’ breakfast items too.

Sassy Mama cheat!: The kids’ breakfast menu is available all day but the adult breakfast ends at 11.30am, so if mama’s craving a mid-day boiled egg and toast soldiers, order with your munchkins and steal share theirs!

Kids’ menu options are reasonably healthy and, as you might expect, well presented, but also familiar enough not to result in a total meltdown (my son loves the meatballs with tomato sauce and mash). It’s always nice to see a fresh fruit platter as a dessert option on a kids’ menu – HK restaurants take note!

salmon

The new healthy lunch menu is light and delicious, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients, so mama won’t feel left out! A highlight for me was the slow cooked Scottish salmon with cous cous salad, which left me full but not stuffed – ideal lunchtime fare.

Book

The kids’ activity books with pens and are a welcome distraction and have enough going on to occupy a variety of age groups.

Thumbs down
Not much to fault here, although it would be great to see a few more veggies on the kids’ menu.
