Want ideas for fun activities to do with your little goblins that will leave you with some spooky cool Halloween decorations to place around the house? Read on, mamas!

Knock Knock…BOO! Halloween is creeping up on us and we can’t wait to get into the spooky groove. Other than trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, dressing up the kiddies in adorable costumes (go the extra mile for the Insta), why not also transform your place into a “monster house” with some of these great DIY tricks. There’s no need to go shopping for decorations, instead reuse some of the old household items you have lying around and make some cute monster adornments. Grab your little sidekicks, pick up some paper, scissors, tape, and have fun making these simple, spooky Halloween decorations.

Apothecary Jars

Disguise your candy bowls and jars with these eerie apothecary labels to make your own witchy medicine supply (for more labels look here). Print out the labels and cut them out, then find some bottles and jars. Tape the labels on to your bottles. You could use an empty bottle of red or masonry jars used to store snacks. Easy right?

Monster Door for a Monster House

Make your own monster house by giving the door a spooky character. You can make a Frankenstein door, mummy door, monster door, and anything else you can think of! All you need is some colored paper, scissors, tape and creativity. Cut, paste, and boooom! You and your kiddie have got yourselves a new monster to guard the house.

Eeeek, we got a Mice Infestation!

Can we call in the Ghost Busters to exterminate these guys? Spook up the house by adding some mice silhouettes all over the place. Download the Martha Stewart mice templates, cut them out, and tape these creepy crawlers all over the house.

Cute Ghosty Garlands

Decorate the house with Halloween garland. You can make them using paper or pompoms. Choose the classic orange and black colored material, or go with some fun, quirky colors. If you’re looking to be more adventurous, check out this leveled-up pompom guide.

mummies

Cereal Mummy

Save those cereal boxes and turn them into cute little mummies for Halloween. Find some old white sheets that you can tear up or some rolls of white bandage. Wrap the boxes up, and stick on two googly eyes. Draw on some fangs or paint them spooky colors to  add some variety to your Halloween monsters.

Tissue Roll Monsters

Reuse the toilet rolls and make them into either cute-ish scary monsters or glow in the dark eyes. For the monsters, paint on your monster of choice. If you opt for the glow in the dark eyes, cut out eye shapes then insert glow in the dark sticks. Tape both ends of the roll, put them in corners and wait for dawn.

Juice Box Monster

Surprise your kiddie during lunch by ghouling up their juice box. First you’ll need some colored paper, then tightly wrap the juice box. Using markers, draw on a monster, or print one out from a monster-inhabited site (Pinterest, anyone?). After your little goblins have drunk them up, these guys are perfect mini monsters to use as desk decorations.

Tissue Box Monster

Using just an empty tissue box, some foam sheets, glue and paint, you can make a fanged monster container! Insert a stack of tissues to create a customized monster tissue box. Or cut out a bigger mouth and use it as a storage unit for little items such as forks and spoons, very handy for a Halloween party.
