Pok Fu Lam Family Walk – Stroller-friendly hikes in Hong Kong followed by lunch with a view
This route is a great starting point for getting into (or back into) hikes. With a 270m elevation change pushing the stroller uphill, you’ll get a nice workout. Take the number 4 bus from Central to the junction of Pok Fu Lam Road and Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road. Walk along Pok Fu Lam Reservoir Road for about 3 to 5 minutes and you will see the Former Watchman’s Cottage which marks the start of the walk. The route ends at Peak Galleria, perfect for rehydrating at one of the many kid-friendly restaurants.

Ping Shan Heritage Trail – Self-guided heritage stroller-friendly hike in Hong Kong
As Hong Kong’s first-ever heritage trail, Ping Shan is an easy route through several villages taking in many historic buildings and declared monuments belonging to the Tang family clan. Starting at the only remaining ancient pagoda in Hong Kong built more than 600 years ago, Tsui Sing Lau Pagoda, the trail is easily reached from Tin Shui Wai station in under 5 minutes. Highlights include Sheung Cheung Wai walled village and an old colonial police station.

Penfold Park – Hong Kong hiking trail within Sha Tin Racecourse
This lush, animal-friendly and typically uncrowded park situated within the Sha Tin Racecourse is a haven for families with strollers. The new East Rail line takes you directly from Admiralty to Fo Tan station in just over 20 minutes. From there it is a 15-minute walk to Penfold Park but make sure to check the HKJC race schedule to ensure the park is open. With man-made lakes and equestrian-related artworks to explore, a stroll around the park is a welcome respite from the city.

This lovely one-and-a-half-hour walk across Lamma Island is perfect for families with small children and strollers. Kids delight in the 30-minute ferry ride from Central to Yung Shue Wan, a quaint, Mediterranean-feeling village with small artisanal shops, cafes and restaurants. The walk offers views of Hong Kong’s outlying islands and the Lamma Power Station, several pagodas and information panels outlining the island’s ecosystems and history. Finish at Sok Kwu Wan Village where you can refuel at any of the famous and well-reputed seafood restaurants near the ferry pier before jumping on the ferry back to Central.

Mui Wo Accessible Trail – Easy hike in Hong Kong with historical relics, wildlife and pirates
Escape from the city, enjoy a picturesque ferry ride to Mui Wo and breathe in some fresh air on this Lantau island walk. Starting (and ending) at Mui Wo ferry pier, stroll around to Silvermine Beach before heading inland along Mui Wo Rural Committee Road. Here you have two options – along the Island Nature Heritage Trail to Silvermine Waterfall where you might run into some buffalo or along Luk Tei Tong Tseun Path to the 1940’s pirate watchtower, or perhaps do both! Enjoy 2 to 3 hours of flat, wide and paved pathways with plenty of toilet options along the route.

Ma On Shan Promenade – Escape from the city at this stroller-friendly hike in Hong Kong
With the East Rail line opening, Ma On Shan Promenade is now easily accessible, about an hour from Hong Kong Island. Change at Tai Wai Station to the Tuen Ma Line and a short 5-minute walk from Tai Shui Hang Station and you will hit the urban waterfront park. Featuring children’s playgrounds, tai chi areas and a beautiful bougainvillaea garden, the promenade ends at Wu Kai Sha Pebbles Beach featuring stunning sunset views over Tolo Harbour and Pat Sin Leng mountains.

Black’s Link – Built to enhance defences and is now a lovely stroller-friendly hike in Hong Kong
Perfect for short stroller-friendly hikes in Hong Kong, this trail can be completed in under an hour and is easily accessed from Central by the number 15 bus. Alight at Wan Chai Gap Road at Coombe Road Children’s Playground where Black’s Link starts opposite. The shady trail is entirely paved and has lovely views over Happy Valley and Ocean Park. Follow the Wong Nai Chung Gap signs and you will end at the Tai Tam Reservoir Road bus stop where several buses pick up on the way to Central or Causeway Bay.

Bowen Road Fitness Trail – Well-known and easily accessible stroller-friendly hike on Hong Kong Island
From the junction at Bowen Road and Magazine Gap Road (accessible by minibus 9 from Central) to the eastern end at Stubbs Road (accessible by 24 minibus from Admiralty or the 26 from Lee Gardens), this trail is a well-trodden, stroller-friendly walk. With picture-perfect views of the Hong Kong skyline providing plenty of photo opportunities, parks, playgrounds and toilets, all the family is well catered for on this concrete-meets-jungle wide, shady and flat path.
Sassy Mama Tip: If you prefer a slightly shorter route with a coffee to finish, drop down into Wan Chai via Wan Chai Gap Road. Be warned, it is a steep path with a few stairs at Kennedy Road, so this part is not very stroller-friendly!
