A Glimpse Into Creative Secondary School’s All-Rounded Local Curriculum With International Standards

LearnPost Category - LearnLearn - Post Category - SchoolsSchools

We deep dive into how Creative Secondary School (CSS) fosters creativity with an all-rounded curriculum whilst prioritising students’ growth and fulfillment…

When a school prioritises creativity and happiness, it empowers students to express themselves, think outside the box and develop resilience, ultimately setting them on a path to thrive academically and outside the classroom. Creative Secondary School (CSS) offers a comprehensive educational experience that combines the local Hong Kong curriculum with international standards, fostering an all-rounded development.

CSS is part of the Creative Schools Continuum, a network of three schools (kindergarten, primary and secondary) catering to students aged 3 to 18 – all sharing a common educational philosophy and values that embrace the essence of Chinese and international educational ideals.

Plus, it has also been recognised as a “Happy School Campus” by UNESCO, nodding to the school’s commitment to students’ well-being and happiness. Read on to know more about its curriculum and why it might be a good fit for your child.

How CSS Stands Out In Terms Of Curriculum

Creative Secondary School offers a unique dual curricula program, blending the rigorous framework of the IB Middle Years Programme from Form 1 to 3 with the robust content of the Hong Kong Junior curriculum. Then, students have the flexibility to follow the Hong Kong Diploma Programme, with the option to choose the IB Diploma Programme in their final two years, providing students with a diverse array of elective subjects, spanning the arts, technologies, sciences, and humanities.

With a focus on inquiry-based, student-centred learning and a low teacher-student ratio of 1:9, CSS supports over 80 co-curricular activities. Plus, its trilingual program in English, Putonghua, and Cantonese prepares students for global citizenship while fostering strong cultural roots. And for a more hands-on approach, experiential learning opportunities — like Creative Week and international study tours — ignite students’ passions and broaden their horizons.

What’s more, CSS does not require a capital levy or debenture, making it more accessible for families.

How The School’s Rich Diversity Also Plays A Role In Students’ Development

Creative Secondary School thrives in a vibrant, multicultural environment, welcoming staff and students from over 12 countries. This rich diversity not only enhances the learning experience but also prepares students for future endeavours. Committed to inclusivity, CSS provides equal opportunities for all learners, offering specialised support for diverse needs and enrichment programs for gifted students

Its convenient location in Tseung Kwan O is easily accessible via public transport from Hang Hau MTR Station – school bus service throughout Hong Kong is also available, making it a perfect choice for families across Hong Kong.

If you’re keen to know more, don’t miss the school’s Creative Showcase which will also be anticipating the school’s 20th anniversary in 2026. The Open Day is a great opportunity for prospective students and their families to experience the nurturing environment and innovative education first hand
