Spending = Savings
As mums, we all love to be rewarded for our loyalty! One of the charms of shopping at Wellcome, Marketplace or Olivers is the not-to-be-missed goodies on offer when we collect enough stamps or points. And so, the company behind some of our favourite shopping outlets in Hong Kong is offering us just that via an easy-to-use digital app. No more physical cards or collecting stamps needed, it’s convenience, surprise gifts and savings built into a mobile app. We at Sassy Mama tried the app and here’s why we think you should too.
yuu is free-to-download, available on both iOS and Android. One small bug that needs fixing is that while registering, some of the instructions appear in Chinese, even after you select English. Don’t be put off though because you can skip the introduction and dive straight in and explore the goodies (it’s intuitive and don’t worry, the app will appear in the language you selected!). It offers customers convenience and great value by rewarding them every time they shop and order food from over 2,000 shops and restaurants. The more they spend, the more reward points they earn, which can be used as savings while shopping or gifts that they will love. Joining the yuu universe are Wellcome, Mannings, 7-Eleven, IKEA, KFC, Pizza Hut, Market Place by Jasons, Market Place, PHD, 3hree6ixty and Oliver’s the Delicatessen, Jasons Ichiba, Wellcome Delivers and Market Place Delivers. Like all true Hongkongers, we’re sure that these brands are some of your favourites and hardly a day goes by without eating or shopping at these outlets.
So, the next time you pop into 7-11 to pick up a yoghurt drink for your hangry toddler, brave the weekend crowds at IKEA or order your weekly groceries online from Wellcome, you get to refuel your yuu points balance as well.
The point system is easy to understand and use — a flat and transparent 1 point per dollar spent, though there are special days for different outlets and first-time offers where you could earn more. Points are updated the second you pay (although it may take up to seven days for the points to show if you pay with your Hang Seng enJoy card). It’s super easy to use with your unique QR code once you download the app and you can also share points with friends and family for free to speed up the points accumulation.
In these difficult times, we all want to give a little to those in need. It’s great to know that there is also a “donate points” function that helps you contribute to charities. Once we have collected enough points, we are sure to share the love with organisations such as Helping Hand and Foodlink.
The app launched only late last month and we haven’t been able to check all the functions yet. One thing that we’d definitely like to try out is the Hang Seng yuu enJoy credit card. In partnership with Hang Seng Bank, this card lets users earn 3X the points when shopping and 4X when ordering food from KFC, Pizza Hut and PHD!
Don’t you love it when spending is so rewarding?
