February is just around the corner, which means that Valentine’s Day is on the horizon (giving you a legitimate reason to leave the little ones at home). Love it or loathe it, Hong Kong pulls out all the stops year after year to celebrate the day of love, with restaurants and bars all over town offering up extra special menus and deals to help you celebrate. So, to make your date night decision easier, we’ve rounded up the best menus and drinks on offer in the city.

Maggie & Rose

If you’re looking for something a little different to the standard dinner and drinks this Valentine’s Day, then head to Maggie & Rose in Causeway Bay for a romantic baking class for two! Book in now and you and your S.O. will be able to get together and bake a special V-Day berry pie, before enjoying a four-course dinner while it’s in the oven. Along with a Kir Royale cocktail to kick off the evening, dinner dishes include Lobster Cappuccino Soup to start and a Chocolate Lovers Platter for dessert, whilst mains include the choice of either Black Cod, French Duck Breast or Beef Short Ribs and Saffron Risotto. Catch

Budget-friendly and helping to raise money for a very worthy cause, Catch is the place to book this Valentine’s. Beginning festivities with a complimentary glass of prosecco, the three-course menu then kicks off with a choice of starters; with options including the signature pint of prawns, chicken liver paté and burrata. For mains, diner can choose between the spicy crab pasta, steak, winter risotto or jerk chicken, before finishing the evening with either the fried berry cheesecake or Kahlua tiramisu. The best part? 10% off all takings from the evening will be donated to the Children’s Heart Foundation, to support children suffering from congenital heart disease and their families.

Pici

Want to celebrate in true Lady & The Tramp style this Valentine’s? Then head to Pici and indulge in some homemade pasta with its sharing-style Di San Valentino Menu. Featuring starters such as Scallops with Jerusalem artichokes and Italian n’duja, pasta favourites such as the Truffle Tagliatelle, the V-Day special Pink Gnocchi with Gorgonzola and more, it’s sure to be a hit. End on a sweet note with Pici’s signature Tiramisu and Panna Cotta.

What better way is there to celebrate the day of love than with Champagne and cake? Commissary is giving us both, with its Valentine’s set menu for two, which includes a glass of Veuve Clicquot champagne each, along with your choice of starter main and dessert. Dishes on offer Buffalo wings and blue cheese sauce, Pork loin with sweet potato puree and pickled vegetables and the irresistible Red Velvet cake.

BEDU & Uma Nota

Celebrate this Valentine’s Day with Meraki Hospitality Group at its sister restaurants Uma Nota and BEDU. Both restaurants will be serving special four-course set menus for the evening of the 14 February, beginning with a complimentary glass of prosecco for all guests, and moving onto a selection of culinary delights. Modern Middle Eastern resto, BEDU is luring us in with dishes that include Charred Cauliflower, Slow Baked Salmon and the all-new White Chocolate Clafoutis; whilst Brazilian boteco, Uma Nota will be celebrating with a flavoursome selection of its signature dishes, including Coxinhas de Frango, Caldeirada de Frutos do Mar (a tiger prawn, octopus and squid stew with coconut milk and rice) and Mousse de Chocolate. Along with offering up tempting set menus, both restaurants will also be donating $25 from every meal sold to support local charity, “Pink Alliance”, promoting equal rights for the LGBTI community.

Along with sister restaurant, Catch, Elementary will also be helping to raise awareness and funds for the Children’s Heart Foundation this Valentine’s, by donating 10% of takings to the charity. Priced at $400, the three-course set menu includes a complimentary glass of prosecco or an Elementary cocktail, along with dishes such as the popular EFC (Elementary fried cauliflower), chili crab pasta, roasted squash risotto, and a peachy panna cotta to finish.

Escape the city and enjoy some time down at the beach this V-Day with Limewood’s special four-course island-inspired tasting menu. Tokyolima

Perfect for Valentine’s Day, Tokyolima’s set menu has been designed for sharing with that special someone. Begin your feast with a selection of small plates, which includes the For Lovers, a maguro tiradito served with refreshing raspberry tiger’s milk, pink gari and shiso dust. Hot dishes also include the LL Stick of grilled lamb loin with apple puree, mint salad and pickled onion, along with the traditional Peruvian rice dish, Tacu Tacu. Finish your meal off with not one, but two desserts – The Half Orange is a moist orange cake featuring creamy vanilla frosting, candied orange and a scoop of rum raisin ice-cream, whilst The Oye Papi XO is made for chocolate lovers, featuring chocolate cookie, chocolate mousse, chocolate sauce, caramelised almonds and coconut sorbet.

Pirata’s sky-high views of the city and rustic Italian recipes make for the perfect Valentine’s dinner spot. The special menu features three appetisers to share, including a creamy Burrata Cheese with a mixed tomato salad, along with a selection of Cold Cuts, whilst mains include the delightfully apt Heart-shaped Parmesan Ravioli with Truffle. This Valentine’s Day, impress your date with an Indonesian feast of eight delicious sharing dishes at Kaum at Potato Head. 208 Duecento Otto

Another favourite in the city for Italian fare is Hollywood Road’s 208, and it’s a top pick of ours this Valentine’s. Get in the mood with Head Chef Zeno Bevilacqua’s four-course Italian feast, which features specials such as Heart-shaped ravioli with beetroot filing, and the coastal-inspired starter of Seared scallop with rose petals, sweet baby onions and roasted sliced almonds. The set menu includes your choice of main dishes, and finishes with a dessert of Yoghurt meringata, poached mixed berries and balsamic caviar. Veggie? No worries! 208 will also be offering a four-course vegetarian set menu for the evening.

Available for one night only, Executive Chef Matthew Woolford has created a menu fit for royalty, with a set sharing menu presenting only the finest ingredients sourced from all over the world.
