You’ve spent hours interviewing and checking references to make sure you’re happy with your choice, until finally – congratulations! You’ve hired a new domestic helper. Now comes the responsibility of figuring out just exactly what you want them to do and how to make them feel welcome in your home…

If this is your first helper and you’re not too sure what tasks you should ask them to help with, we’ve drawn up this list which contains some suggestions for daily, weekly and monthly duties to give you both an idea of where to start until you feel more settled. Of course, you should always communicate with your helper to make sure they are comfortable with what’s being asked of them and that your expectations are realistic.
