Whether you’re looking for a spring refresh or just want to change it up, here’s our pick of seasonal style trends for the whole family.
The start of spring means warmer weather and the return of HK humidity, as well as the resurgence or rotation of new fashion trends! This year, some of these trends might be reminiscent of your childhood (think highlighter colours and tie-dye everything), but they’re also guaranteed to leave you feeling fresh and ready for the change in season. Whether you or your family’s wardrobe is in need of a makeover or you just want to add something new to the mix, here are four spring fashion trends that work for everyone this season.

The revival of 90’s fashion is still going strong this year, but there’s only one trend bright enough to truly ring in the spring season: neon. Neon can be a very jarring hue, which is why it’s best to add some subtle touches instead of going for a top-to-toe look. You can swathe yourself in it with a dress, or just add some neon shoes. However you choose to wear it, it’s guaranteed to provide the perfect 90’s pop!
For the Sassy Mums:
- This neon green raincoat from Zara is the perfect offset to a grey rainy day.
- These neon pink trousers from Lovers + Friends can easily be worn with a neutral top. For a fun twist, try pairing them with a blue or orange top.
- This neon green bodysuit from h:ours makes it easy to pull off the new baggy jean trend.
- A replacement for that go-to, easy dress, is this neon green gingham babydoll one.
- The easiest way to introduce neon to your wardrobe, and not just to wear to a fitness class, are these Nike Air Max 90 Sneakers – they go with everything.
For the Sassy Girls
- This boho-chic, neon Zara blouse will go with their favourite neutral or denim bottoms.
- Your little girl is sure to brighten up a weekend lunch in this bright pink corsage dress from Next Direct.
- And for a subtler approach, this neon polka-dot H&M dress will do the trick.
For the Sassy Dads
It can be a tricky trend for the Dads to pull off, so why not try a subtle swipe of neon on a shoe? The Nike Air Force 1 ’07 LV8 2 or Nike Drop-Type Mid both do the trick.
For the Sassy Boys
- This contrast neon sweatshirt and sporty neon hoodie from Zara are easy plays.
- And for the young gamers, this H&M printed t-shirt is the perfect addition to their closet.
- One Sassy Mama has tried and tested this adorable fluro dinosaur t-shirt multipack (styled with these fluro yellow shorts). The outfit even got the toddler tick of approval!
For the Sassy Babies
Check out these neon print options by Pukuboo on Etsy. The prints are a bit different from the usual and there’s currently a 25% discount if you buy in bulk! You can also try some subtle pops of neon in this Wondersuit from BONDS.
Like a good white t-shirt, animal prints seem to be always on trend these days. So much so that we consider them a neutral! But new to the scene and slightly harder to find are tropical prints. Bright and punchy (unlike their animal print counterparts) they might need some time to feel normal outside of typical beachwear, but we’re ready to give it a shot!
For the Sassy Mums
- Dresses are the easiest way to flaunt these prints and we’re loving the flirty options from Farm Rio – Tropical Fair Linen and Tropical Tile mini dresses.
- This Mango tropical print jumpsuit is perfect for both work and play.
- Last but not least, a Hawaiian shirt! Hawaiian shirts might seem too masculine because of their boxy shape. However, this classic Levi’s tropical shirt, whether it’s worn tied or just buttoned, is a perfect example of how they can be feminine too!
- Mama’s who can’t get enough of a good pattern should check out Aussie brand Mister Zimi. We’re in love with this season’s “Rosada” and “Kaleidoscope” prints which are available in a range of dresses, shorts and accessories. Sassy Mama tip: there’s free international delivery for orders over $AU150.
For the Sassy Girls
- You can’t go wrong with this not-so-basic, basic flamingo print dress from M&S.
- These tropical print culottes from Mango are perfect with a sweater or a shirt.
- For those who want to be very on trend, these leggings from Next Direct combine fluro with tropical.
For the Sassy Dads
- Not used to prints on shorts? These tropical print Bermuda shorts from Zara are a little on the darker side, making them the perfect item to start transitioning to this trend.
- Dads have the easiest way to rock the tropical trend — Hawaiian shirts!
- This Hurley Botanical Shirt is perfect on or off the beach.
- Worn with trousers or denim, this New Look tropical shirt will amp up the fun factor whether worn alone or over another shirt.
- Open to a few flamingos? This Levi’s Cubano shirt makes use of them in just the right way.
For the Sassy Boys
It’s not just the Dads getting into Hawaiian shirts. These boys tropical shirts will keep your little one on trend too!
- This M&S tropical print shirt is available in a multi-colour or seafoam green.
- This tropical printed Mango shirt is sure to brighten your day.
- Mix it up with these Los Cabos shorts from Cotton On (or opt for the button-down shirt in a matching print).
For the Sassy Babies
We’re loving this little Zara jungle print t-shirt and these palm print trousers from Next Direct are too adorable to pass up!
Utility dressing is still on trend and we’re so thankful because we’re not over it yet! From jumpsuits to joggers, this remains one of our favourites because it can easily be dressed up or down, while still being comfortable. Let’s face it, every day is an adventure when you have kids. It only makes sense to dress the part!
For the Sassy Mums
- Jumpsuits are a classic way to play up the utility trend and these three do not disappoint:
- Try this belted denim jumpsuit from Mango.
- Or this completely comfortable khaki boilersuit by Warehouse.
- And this sassy pink boilersuit from Topshop.
- Cargo pants are also a classic, and this ASOS twill combat trouser takes them up a notch with the ankle ties.
- A fan of peg trousers? These structured ones from Topshop are a great way to incorporate the utility trend.
- And perfect for the warm weather is this sleek utility romper from Bella Dahl.
For the Sassy Girls
- Jumpsuits aren’t just for the mums, but for girls too! Try the not-your-average, loose-fit, Zara jumpsuit for any occasion or this classic M&S denim boilersuit which is perfectly playful with or without a shirt underneath.
- These loose-fit linen trousers from Zara are not only airy and comfortable, but they’re also from Zara’s Join Life line that promotes sustainability.
- You can never go wrong with a good utility jacket and this pocketed cotton jacket from Mango is no exception.
- And because cargo skirts are more fun than cargo pants, these coloured denim cargo skirts from M&S are definitely one to try!
For the Sassy Dads
- The weather might be getting warmer, but we’re still a big fan of this ASOS Design jacket as well as this one from Zara. There will always be an opportunity to wear them!
- This H&M utility shirt can be worn on its own or be used as a light layer.
- Lastly, we can’t talk about utility and not mention cargo pants! The ones we’re loving right now are these two options from Zara – soft technical cargo trousers and textured cargo trousers, as well as these white Dickies painters pants because they are such an uncommon colour.
For the Sassy Boys
Cargo pants should be a staple in any boy’s wardrobe. We’re all about these dark denim cargo jeans from Mango, these classic ones from GAP and these cotton cargo shorts from M&S that come in grey and blue.
For the Sassy Babies
Keep your baby up-to-date with the latest trends with this Roll-Neck Button-Front onesie from Gap, these Zara Striped Denim Dungaree Shorts or these denim overalls from Cotton On. All are perfect additions to your bubs’ spring wardrobe!
Another trend that is sticking around this year is tie-dye. It resurfaced again just last year, primarily in the form of t-shirts and sweatshirts. However, towards the end of last year, the trend slowly weaved its way into other types of garments as well – tie-dye co-ordinates anyone? Whether you were into it last year or not, now is a great time to give it a go or freshen up what you have. We could all use a touch of that laidback 70’s vibe!
For the Sassy Mums
- Tie-dye co-ordinates do exist! And the Micha Lounge Coord from ASOS is a completely comfortable option to try.
- Looking to view tie-dye in a different light? Check out this Superdown Jorden Satin top and this Bardot Mesh Tie Dye blouse. They’re both completely different takes on the classic look and are perfect for layering or wearing alone.
- Last but not least, we can’t forget about a tie-dye t-shirt. This cropped version by Revolve x Karla is an easy way to get into the trend thanks to its black and white colouring. Or, for a classic look, this Perfect Vintage t-shirt from Reformation is actually perfect, as the structure allows for it to easily be tucked into high-waisted denim as well.
For the Sassy Girls
- H&M is embracing the trend with an airy, flowing pink tie-dye dress as well as these super cute pink tie-dye high tops.
- We’re sure this trend will stick around until summer, so get your swimwear sorted with this multi tie-dye bikini from Next Direct.
- Our favourite? This M&S Busy Saving the World dip-dye dress. It’s perfect for play and for empowering the sassy young ladies in your life.
For the Sassy Dads
- This Circle Tie Dye Tee from Nudie Jeans is about as neutral as tie-dye t-shirts come, which makes it incredibly easy to wear.
- As a topper for chilly situations (a.k.a. every indoor location during the HK heat) this Zara essence tie-dye sweatshirt and ASOS Design sweatshirt are perfect adds to any casual outfit.
- Lastly, our favourite, the Levi’s 501 ’93 Cut Off Shorts! Truly a throwback in so many ways, these shorts are so perfectly spring-y that they’re a must get for your gent’s closet.
For the Sassy Boys
This Zara sweatshirt, or this M&S Dip Dye sweatshirt and hoodie provide the perfect variety of tie-dye tops to choose from. Time to ditch the sweatshirt? Try this short-sleeve t-shirt from Cotton On.
For the Sassy Babies
This neon tie-dye onesie and spiral tie-dye onesie, both from Etsy, are perfect for your little one!
